Pensioner groups are planning to protest and to highlight the cause the Anti Tax lobby are looking for "Grey Martyrs". The increases in Council Tax largely to pay for increases in non service costs, has caused outrage.
The escalation of the rebellion has come after the disclosure that this years council taxes will be in the high units such as 7 to 9 percent even after the efforts of the Goverment to intimedate the councils into lower numbers.

Coupled with the lack of increase in the financial support from central government and the black holes in councils staff pension funds caused by the decline in equity values the pincer movement has created a demand for more money but now visible increase in the quality of council services.

Is It Fair.......

No it isn't the tax takes no account of income and can encourage the old to move home at quite the wrong time of their lives. uprooting them from familiar neighbourhoods to capitalise on the value of their homes.

Those that decide these matters now have some voter competition in a new  group that has organised themselves. "Is It Fair"
